BIND DNS
TMA-BIND-9.5
Response Rate Limiting and DDOS Mitigation
Description
Responses to excessive, nearly identical UDP requests can be controlled by configuring a response rate-limit clause in an options or view statement. At this time, Response Rate Limiting is only recommended for authoritative servers. The audit requires a rate-limit clause in the global options with responses-per-second 5 or less (applies to authoritative servers). The audit parses the effective configuration printed by named-checkconf -p (all include files resolved) from /etc/named.conf (RHEL; chroot /var/named/chroot is detected) or /etc/bind/named.conf (Debian/Ubuntu).
Méthode de vérification
Méthode d'audit: Commande shell

else conf=/etc/named.conf; [ -f "$conf" ] || conf=/etc/bind/named.conf
out=$(named-checkconf -p "$conf" 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; fi
flat=$(printf '%s\n' "$out" | tr '\t\n' ' ' | tr -s ' ')
opts=$(printf '%s\n' "$out" | awk '/^options[ \t]*\{/{f=1} f{print} f&&/^\};/{exit}' | tr '\t\n' ' ' | tr -s ' ')
r=$(printf '%s\n' "$opts" | grep -Eo 'rate-limit \{[^}]*\}') || { echo 'no rate-limit in options'; exit 1; }
v=$(printf '%s\n' "$r" | sed -n 's/.*responses-per-second \([0-9]*\);.*/\1/p')
[ -n "$v" ] && [ "$v" -le 5 ] && echo compliant || echo "responses-per-second ${v:-unset}"- Sortie attendue
compliant
Méthode de correction
Méthode de correction: Recommandation ou correctif d'infrastructure
To implement the recommended state, add or update a rate-limit clause in the server's options statement. Add a responses-per-second value of 5 or less, similar to the example below. options { . . . rate-limit { // Limit Response to Rapid Identical Queries for DDOS mitigation responses-per-second 5; . . . };
