Enforce the use of trusted registries using TLS
Description
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol used in this context to protect data in transit. Restricting operations to the use of trusted registries ensures the use of approved container images. Audit: Passes when .spec.storageImport.insecureRegistries of the HyperConverged resource is empty. Requires oc logged in to the cluster with read access.
How it is checked
Audit method: Shell command
command -v oc >/dev/null 2>&1 || exit 1; v=$(oc get hyperconverged kubevirt-hyperconverged -n openshift-cnv -o jsonpath='{.spec.storageImport.insecureRegistries}') || exit 1; [ -z "$v" ] && echo compliant || echo noncompliant- Expected output
compliant
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
Do not allow connections to insecure registries from hyperconverged resources. The cluster administrator can remove any insecure registry: $ oc patch hyperconverged kubevirt-hyperconverged - n openshift - cnv --type='json' -p='[ {"op": "remove", "path": "/spec/storageImport/insecureRegistries"}, ]'
