TMA-MYSQL-6.4

Ensure 'log-raw' is Set to 'OFF'

HighLevel 1Automatedmysql

Description

The log-raw MySQL option determines whether passwords are rewritten by the server so as not to appear in log files as plain text. If log-raw is enabled, then passwords are written to the various log files (general query log, slow query log, and binary log) in plain text. Reads the effective log_raw value (OFF is also the default); also ensure no log-raw = ON remains in my.cnf. Runs mysql -NBe with the client defaults: put an administrative account in ~/.my.cnf (mode 0600) or a mysql_config_editor login path, not MYSQL_PWD (see 1.4/1.6).

How it is checked

Audit method: SQL query

sql_query
out=$(mysql -NBe "SELECT IF(@@global.log_raw = 0, 'compliant', 'noncompliant')" 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; printf '%s\n' "$out"
Expected output
compliant

How it is fixed

Fix method: SQL statement

shell
mysql -e "SET PERSIST log_raw = OFF"
