Ensure mutual TLS is enabled
Description
Mutual TLS (a.k.a. Two-Way TLS) enhances TLS by requiring that both parties authenticate each other when establishing a connection. Mutual TLS adds a requirement (over TLS) that the client provide its certificate so the server can authenticate the client.
How it is checked
Audit method: Manual review
If replication uses TLS, run SHOW REPLICA STATUS\G on the replica and verify Master_SSL_Cert and Master_SSL_Key name the replica's certificate and key; on the primary verify the replication account requires a certificate (SELECT user, host, ssl_type FROM mysql.user WHERE Repl_slave_priv = 'Y'; ssl_type X509 or SPECIFIED).
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
On the replica: CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_SSL_CERT = '<cert>', MASTER_SSL_KEY = '<key>', MASTER_SSL_CA = '<ca>'; on the primary: ALTER USER '<repl>'@'<host>' REQUIRE X509;
