TMA-MARIADB-8.1
Ensure 'require_secure_transport' is Set to 'ON' and 'have_ssl' is Set to 'YES'
HighLevel 1Automatedmariadb
Description
All network traffic must use SSL/TLS when traveling over untrusted networks. Runs mariadb -NBe with the client defaults: as root on the server the unix_socket plugin usually authenticates; otherwise put an administrative account in ~/.my.cnf (mode 0600), not MYSQL_PWD (see 1.4/1.6).
How it is checked
Audit method: SQL query
sql_query
out=$(mariadb -NBe "SELECT IF(@@global.require_secure_transport = 1 AND @@global.have_ssl = 'YES', 'compliant', 'noncompliant')" 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; printf '%s\n' "$out"- Expected output
compliant
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
Configure TLS (ssl_cert, ssl_key, ssl_ca under [mariadbd]) so have_ssl = YES, confirm all clients use TLS, then set require_secure_transport=ON under [mariadbd] and restart (or SET GLOBAL require_secure_transport = ON).
