TMA-DB2-3.2.1
Specify Secure Remote Shell Command (DB2RSHCMD)
Description
The DB2RSHCMD registry varible specifies the remote shell command to use when starting remote database partitions and with the db2_all script to run utilities and commands on all database partitions. It is recommended that a value be used which encrypts the data sent between partitions, such as ssh. Passes when DB2RSHCMD is unset or points to ssh. Default: The default value is ssh. Run as the instance owner (or with sqllib/db2profile sourced) so the db2 CLP reads this instance's configuration.
How it is checked
Audit method: Shell command
out=$(db2set -all 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; printf '%s\n' "$out" | awk '/^\[[a-zA-Z]\]/ { l = $0; sub(/^\[[a-zA-Z]\] */, "", l); k = l; sub(/=.*/, "", k); v = l; sub(/^[^=]*=/, "", v); gsub(/[ \t]/, "", v); if (!(k in r)) r[k] = v } END { if (!("DB2RSHCMD" in r) || r["DB2RSHCMD"] ~ /(^|\/)ssh$/) print "compliant"; else print "noncompliant: " r["DB2RSHCMD"] }'- Expected output
compliant
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
1. Follow the guidance on this page to create public and private keys for ssh: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/db2/12.1?topic=installation-enabling-execution- remote-commands 2. Run the following command to set the DB2_RSHCMD registry variable to ssh: db2set DB2RSHCMD=ssh
