TMA-APACHE-2.3
Ensure the WebDAV Modules Are Disabled
MediumLevel 1Automatedapache
Description
The Apache mod_dav and mod_dav_fs modules support WebDAV ('Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning') functionality for Apache. WebDAV is an extension to the HTTP protocol which allows clients to create, move, and delete files and resources on the web server. Counts loaded modules matching dav_module, dav_fs_module or dav_lock_module; expects 0. Uses the module list from apachectl -M (apache2ctl/httpd; needs root).
How it is checked
Audit method: Shell command
shell
b=$(command -v apache2ctl || command -v apachectl || command -v httpd) || exit 1; m=$("$b" ${APACHE_CONF:+-f "$APACHE_CONF"} -M 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; printf '%s\n' "$m" | grep -Eic '^[[:space:]]*dav(_[a-z]+)?_module' || true- Expected output
0
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
Comment out the dav LoadModule lines (RHEL: conf.modules.d/00-dav.conf) or run a2dismod dav dav_fs dav_lock. Then run apachectl configtest and reload Apache.
