TMA-AIX-5.2.9
Ensure minimum password length is configured
HighLevel 1Automatedaix
Description
The minimum password length setting determines the lowers number of characters that make up a password for a user account. There are many different theories about how to determine the best password length for an organization, but perhaps "passphrase" is a better term than "password". The minlen option sets the minimum acceptable size for the new password. Audit: reads `lssec -f /etc/security/user -s default -a minlen`.
How it is checked

shell
command -v lssec >/dev/null 2>&1 || exit 1; out=$(lssec -f /etc/security/user -s default -a minlen 2>/dev/null) || exit 1; v=$(printf '%s\n' "$out" | sed -n 's/.*minlen=\([^ ]*\).*/\1/p'); if [ -n "$v" ] && [ "$v" -ge 14 ]; then echo compliant; else echo "minlen=$v"; fi- Expected output
