Ensure access to /etc/dt/config/Xconfig is configured
Description
The /etc/dt/config/Xconfig file is used to customize CDE DT login attributes. Ensure this file is owned by root:bin and permissions prevent group and other from writing to the file. The /etc/dt/config/Xconfig file can be used to customize CDE DT login attributes. The default file, /usr/dt/config/Xconfig, is unconditionally overwritten upon subsequent installation. Audit: compares `ls -ld` mode (or more restrictive), owner and group; an absent file is compliant.
How it is checked
Audit method: Shell command
r=compliant; for f in /etc/dt/config/Xconfig; do if [ -e "$f" ]; then set -- $(ls -ld "$f"); s=$(printf '%s %s %s\n' "$1" "$3" "$4" | awk -v m='r--r--r--' -v o='root' -v g='bin' '{ok=1; for(i=1;i<=9;i++) if(substr(m,i,1)=="-" && substr($1,i+1,1)!="-") ok=0; if(o!="" && $2 !~ ("^(" o ")$")) ok=0; if(g!="" && $3 !~ ("^(" g ")$")) ok=0; print (ok ? "ok" : $0)}'); [ "$s" = ok ] || r="$f: $s"; else :; fi; done; echo "$r"- Expected output
compliant
How it is fixed
Fix method: Guidance or infrastructure patch
Check to see if the /etc/dt/config/Xconfig exists: ls -l /etc/dt/config/Xconfig Apply the appropriate ownership and permissions to /etc/dt/config/Xconfig: chown root:bin /etc/dt/config/Xconfig chmod go-w /etc/dt/config/Xconfig
