Host must log sufficient information for events

MittelStufe 1Automatisiertvmware

Beschreibung

Set the Syslog.global.logLevel parameter to "info" to ensure that audit logs capture sufficient information for diagnosing issues and investigating security events. This setting strikes a balance between log verbosity and storage utilization. The parameter governing this behavior is Syslog.global.logLevel with a recommended setting of info. The audit reads Syslog.global.logLevel with esxcli and requires info; also review logger rotation/size (esxcli system syslog config logger list). Runs in the ESXi Shell (busybox sh) as root.

So wird geprüft

Prüfmethode: Shell-Befehl

shell
out=$(esxcli system settings advanced list -o /Syslog/global/logLevel 2>/dev/null) || exit 1
v=$(printf '%s\n' "$out" | sed -n 's/^ *String Value: *//p' | head -n 1)
if [ "$v" = info ]; then echo compliant; else echo "/Syslog/global/logLevel = '$v' (expected info)"; fi
Erwartete Ausgabe
compliant

So wird behoben

Behebungsmethode: Anleitung oder Infrastruktur-Patch

1. Increase the number of rotations and/or individual log size 2. esxcli system syslog config logger set --id=vmkernel -- rotate=15 --size=10240 3. esxcli system syslog config logger set --id=hostd -- rotate=15 --size=10240
